Thousands of WhatsApp users worldwide have complained that they are unable to send or receive messages because the program is down. In an attempt to find out if others were having the same problem, many users turned to social media.

In the UK, Down Detector has received over 21,000 reports of troubles to date, with 59% of individuals who reported problems stating that they were having trouble sending messages. In the meantime, 22% reported having trouble connecting to the server, and the remaining 19% Over 21,000 reports of issues have been made to Down Detector in the UK so far, and 59% of those who reported issues said they were experiencing difficulties sending messages.
